How Digital Signatures Work
BLDR's digital signatures capture:
- Signature image - Drawn on screen with finger or stylus
- Timestamp - Exact date and time of signing
- Signer identity - Linked to user account
- Device info - IP address and device details
- GPS location - Where the signature was captured (optional)
Collecting a Signature
- Open the form or document requiring signature
- Navigate to the signature field
- Tap the signature box
- Sign with your finger or stylus on the screen
- Tap Accept to confirm
- The signature is saved with the document
Where Signatures Are Used
- Safety Meetings - Attendee acknowledgment
- Timesheets - Employee and supervisor approval
- Inspections - Inspector sign-off
- Change Orders - Authorization signatures
- Incident Reports - Witness statements
- Deliveries - Received by signature
Legal Validity
E-SIGN Act Compliant
BLDR's digital signatures comply with the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce (E-SIGN) Act and are legally equivalent to handwritten signatures for most purposes.
Signature Security
- Signatures cannot be modified after capture
- Audit trail tracks all signature activity
- Signed documents are locked from editing
- Signatures are encrypted in storage
Multiple Signatures
Some forms require multiple signatures:
- Each signer receives the document
- Signs on their own device
- Status shows pending/completed signatures
- All parties notified when fully signed
Viewing Signed Documents
Signed documents display:
- Signature image
- Signer name and timestamp
- "Digitally Signed" indicator
- Complete signature history
