The Daily Log is one of BLDR's most powerful features, allowing you to document everything that happens on your job site each day. Create a comprehensive record of activities, weather conditions, manpower, and project progress.

What's Included in a Daily Log?

A BLDR Daily Log captures:

  • Date & Project - Automatically set to current date and selected project
  • Weather Conditions - Temperature, conditions, and any weather delays
  • Manpower - Workers on site by trade or cost code
  • Work Performed - Description of activities completed
  • Equipment Used - List of equipment on site
  • Materials Received - Deliveries and material tracking
  • Visitors - Inspectors, owners, or other visitors
  • Photos - Visual documentation of progress
  • Notes - Additional observations or concerns

Creating a Daily Log

From the Mobile App

  1. Open the BLDR app
  2. Select your project from the project list
  3. Tap Daily Log on the main menu
  4. Tap + New Daily Log
  5. Fill in each section as applicable
  6. Tap Save when complete

From the Web

  1. Navigate to your project
  2. Click Daily Logs in the sidebar
  3. Click + New Daily Log
  4. Complete the form and click Save
Pro Tip

Create your Daily Log at the end of each work day while details are fresh. You can start it in the morning and update throughout the day.

Weather Tracking

Accurate weather documentation is essential for delay claims and project records:

  • Morning Conditions - Record conditions at start of day
  • Afternoon Conditions - Update if weather changes
  • Temperature Range - High and low temperatures
  • Weather Delay - Check if work was impacted
  • Delay Hours - Record time lost to weather

Manpower Tracking

Track workers on site by trade, company, or cost code:

  1. In the Manpower section, tap + Add Crew
  2. Select the trade or cost code
  3. Enter the number of workers
  4. Optionally add company name for subcontractors
  5. Repeat for each crew on site

BLDR automatically calculates total man-hours and crew counts.

Adding Photos

Visual documentation strengthens your daily records:

  1. Scroll to the Photos section
  2. Tap + Add Photo
  3. Take a new photo or select from gallery
  4. Add a caption describing what's shown
  5. Photos are automatically timestamped and geotagged
Photo Best Practices

Take photos of progress, completed work, and any issues. Include reference points (measuring tapes, landmarks) when documenting dimensions or locations.

Exporting Daily Logs

Generate professional reports from your Daily Logs:

  1. Navigate to the Daily Log you want to export
  2. Click/tap the Export button
  3. Choose your format:
    • PDF - Professional document for sharing
    • Excel - Spreadsheet for analysis
  4. Select what to include (photos, signatures, etc.)
  5. Download or email the report

Best Practices

  • Create a Daily Log every day there is activity on site
  • Be specific in work descriptions (location, quantities, materials)
  • Document delays and the reasons immediately
  • Take photos of work in progress, not just completed work
  • Note any safety concerns or incidents
  • Record visitor names and purpose of visit
